I did wonder about The Queens (Head? ) that's tall enough, it was called The Galley, but after recent refurb it returned to being called "The Queens" which I understood to be its original name, but could the area at the back once have been a bowling green? -Hence the name on the gable. But the left hand side of the building doesn't fit.

and there's a tall chimney in the background, could that be over at the brickie?

On the day of the event, Shakin Stevens was one of the guests.
Mike, who could pull out a mean Elvis impression when required, joined Shaky dancing to one of his hits onstage. The flimsy nature of the set, coupled with the fact that they actually played records back then, had the needle jumping all over the place.

It was a big turnout as I remember!

Delighted to see this slot back Tony, nearly fell off my chair though, I rented that very shop for about a year around a dozen years ago and called it "Poachers" flogging theme decor/antiquey bits and a little art gallery on the top floor, (not the best idea I've ever had!)
also sold a few old rods and reels from time to time. Before me it was pop poster and t shirt business, I didn't know it was ever a tackle shop.

I was always on the look out for an old photo of the place, this is the best I've seen, pics usually show the junction and cinema but not "my" shop.

Not sure about the tackle shop, but I bought my Commodore Amiga from there in 1990(ish).
