| I remember the basket chairs, but not from the beach, there were still some left on the old pier when I used to fish from it as a kid. |

| The ones we hold now are £10 per man entry and we pay out 100% of what we take. The Victoria Open in September attracted 63 anglers and the winner took home £180. The sponsorship was a massive bonus in the old days. We stopped guarenteeing the top prizes as we didnt want to get into the situation where we lost money by not being able to cover the prizes with the entry fees. The event is more to publicise the club now and hopefully gain a few new members on the back of it. If you have a look on the Penn Clubman page of the Sea Angler you will see the same names in reports from all over the country. The top matchmen are after the Penn points and the lad who won ours was from Grimsby! When the same group of people win every year it does tend to put others off but the dilemma is do you fish a heaviest/longest single fish match and put the matchmen off or do we stick to what we know will work? As you know, the Festival did attract more people but numbers were falling every year so what would they be like now if we were to ressurect it? It would be a lot more work for those involved and possibly for no extra reward. Who said running matches was easy? Ill get off my soap box now |

| Its not everyones cup of tea Tony, and there can be wastage of fish if nobody takes them which isnt ideal.
I tend to go through phases with my enthusiasm for match fishing. Thinking of maybe doing some of the opens next year and trying to get a few Penn points but im enjoying the boat fishing too much at the moment. |

| Looks to me like Garford Road. 26/2/1990. Storm surge coinciding with spring tides and North Westerly gales meaning when the tide came in, it didnt stop! Had the environment agency around ours the other day signing people up to get free flood warnings over the phone. Makes me wonder if theyre expecting another one soon |

| If you posted that without a stamp now it would cost the recipient £1 handling fee plus the unpaid postage. |
