Joe and myself went to the island yesterday, we weren't too confident
with the small tides but with other commitments the next two weekends
we were going anyway.
Started off nice and early to beat the traffic and went to Trearddur for
the deep water. The fishing wasn't as good as it should be at this time of
year, we had over half a dozen species but they were all small.
First cast i had mack on the bottom to crab, the only one of the day
despite plenty of feathering !!.
Had a few wrasse down the side, an almost black one.
This about the biggest
A surprising amount of small codling still about,
We also had small coalies up to a lb, pout, poorcod, corkwings, and the ever present doggies.
One of the biggest seals i've ever seen popped his head up right next
to us, and was hand fed by Joe !, the thing had no fear at all, and wasn't going to leave after an easy meal so we sacked it after 6 hours and went
for some scram to morrisons, then a nose down the breaky and bumped
into Jonty(plastic paddy) who was giving his kids a fishing lesson.
Chucked out some crab baits in the faint hope of a smoothie while we
had a chat for an hour but nothing happened, just this passing.
After watching the kids catching loads of fish down the side and us being biteless we went further down the island for a few hours into darkness.
Nice to meet you John, we'll catch up with you soon.
Very little happened at the second mark, shed loads of doggies, the odd small dab and codling, with an octopus and rockling to add to the species
count for the day
Long settled spells and small tides are poo !!
