Hay all

Iv just booked a little trip down to Holyhead and was wondering if anyone had any advice for around Anglesey? What's about in mid February not looking to stray too far from the well known marks more anywhere to avoid
Cheers in advance

Alex

Unfortuntely jan and feb are the 'transition period for sea fish. The summer fish have gone and the winter fish are few and far between.
According to weather reports the NW Wales coasts are above freezing, and are improving by the weekend.
Where to fish? My personal preference would be around the 4 mile bridge area.(Live baits under a float)small rockling etc.
Good luck "V"

How old will she be? Fishing daytime or night?

The breakwater can always throw something up if you are staying in Holyhead itself. I would fish the inside, but not a mark to take a junior if there are high winds. There is substantial structural repair work planned on the breakwater at some point. Not sure when that is starting. So far as I am aware it is still open to walk and fish.

Fish dock is another popular mark in Holyhead.

Cheers for that she'll be 25, she's wanting to chase rays but iv said well have to watch the weather. I'm easy with day or nights just depends on the tides and wind. Worse case it's inside the breakwater

The inner breakwater is 'sketchy'you might catch the odd one or two.
Personally,I give it a miss these days.
You can actually fish off the bridge at 4 mile bridge,or from the small boat launch ramp.
Two older locals were fishing there a couple of years ago, they were catching small baitfish off the Holyhead side of the bridge, then using live baitfish under a float on the Rhosnigr side.( bigger hooks)They caught a few bass.
The rays come up the chanal from the rhosniegre side, probably better fished for from the boatlaunch.
I usually park near the shops about 100yds from the bridge,(easy walk)
There's a deep hole where the tide rushes through on the bridge.
Probably more comfortable for a young lady this time of the year.
Rhosneigr can fish well, down the main st to the beach and turn right.
There are sandbanks that can fish well. The small stream that comes in there is a breeding ground for flatties.
Good luck 'V'
