When I started to pack away on my last trip, I really struggled (even with rubber gloves on) to part 2 of the sections of one of my rods, any tips on what I should do now to stop it happenning again ? i.e WD40 sprayed in it, or what ??

1 thing that will work is if you pour hot water on the joint or warm it up some other way , also check theres no sand or crap in the joint b4 you put the rod together ., Smile

Is it a metal ferrule ? Perhaps there is corrosion inside ? I have used a bit of fine wet n dry sandpaper to gently smooth down inside the fitting.

A small amount of some thin teflon lube e.g. reel oil or in my case a specialist bike chain oil, should help. Too much or too thick an oil and you can end up worse off than you started.

Not sure if this is what you are supposed to do though so would wait for some more responses.

If its a carbon rod, one of the best things is a soft pencil (something like a 2B) rubbed on the male end

It acts like a dry lubricant and should prevent the rod sticking.

As for the removal of a stuck piece. I'd opt for the warm water method. Although try to keep it on the female end it will expand and hopefully seperate.

Does do your head in when it happens tho Evil or Very Mad

Certainly did mate, its only ever happenned before when the roda are wet, and thats just because you cant grip them.

This time they were having none of it, I did empty my flask on the joint, but it was the 2 rubber gloves and a lot of brute strength that got it separeted, just dont want it happenning again !

Try some Talc on the joint.
