Haven't been for a few weeks, got there yesterday to hear that it's fishing extremely well on all baits, so much so that in a match the other day and before the start time a chap was setting up, plumbing the depth when a carp grabbed his plumb weight and held on until it was in the landing net - all witnessed so not just an angler's tall story.
The fish were indeed biting well at all ranges, we started on double red maggot, then after catching a fair few switched to sweetcorn then back to maggot, the catch rate never eased off.
One carp spat the hook on the surface at the net only for another to seize the second hand bait in a flash.
Even the barbel were happy with corn
Lost count but must have been over 50 fish and a total weight of over
100 lb in the end.
We even stopped re-filling the feeders as the fish were jumping on the hook regardless at all ranges and were fighting with vigour
Tina caught the heaviest two
I've been working outside in shorts doing some fence building every day for the last week or so, thought I was acclimatised by now but the sun burnt my knees quite badly yesterday and we were worn out by the end of the day.
Don't forget your sunblock and to keep hydrated!
