Weekend at Moelfre Empty
PostSubject: Weekend at Moelfre   Weekend at Moelfre EmptyThu Jul 16, 2015 4:17 pm

After not going camping for a couple of years and then doing the Shell island weekend, I've got the camping bug back. So last Friday we packed the car, waited for the girls to finish school and then headed off to Anglesey. To a site we'd been to several times just outside Moelfre. It just so happens that kirkys dad was in the middle of a weeks holiday, staying up the road.
On the Saturday we decided to fish over low water off the rocks next to the site. You stand on some slippery weed but fish on to clean ground. It was doggies from the off I think we ended up with 7 each and half a dozen mackerel .The weather was pretty good until the rain moved in, mid afternoon. We had a great afternoon and all within a stone throw of our tent/beer  Very Happy

The weed never dries out at the low water mark. When you've stood on it a while it flattens out & you tend to get use to it. We had some great fun a couple of years ago dropping a lobster pot down. We had a couple of nice lobsters but the biggest surprise was catching a 4ft conger in it affraid

The campsite's called Nant Bychan farm, just outside Moelfre. It's not very big & mainly touring caravans but has several pitches for tents. The woman who runs it is called Mrs Evans she's very friendly & will always try to find you a pitch. You can walk straight off the site on to the rocks, fish over low water onto clean ground or over high with a float/lures/feathers or if you can cast far enough over the clean ground. The pitches are a good size, we had 2 tents on ours but only got charged for 1 pitch. The price was £24 a night for 4 people 2 dogs & 2 smallish tents. I'd definitely recommend & I think most people who use it go back year after year.
