Tuesday 17th March 2009Arrived in Borth about an hour before sunset, when Low was due.
Beautiful evening, felt more like Summer with dog walkers, horse riders, surfers and even swimmers making the most of the beach.
If I’d had time and stout boots I'd have explored the bassy looking reef at the western headland, but travelling light with just 90 minutes to spare I settled for light casting from where the sand meets the mussel and barnacle encrusted rocks .
Offered frozen lug and frozen squid,
I watched and I waited…
No takers but I saw fish.
On what I reckoned to be my last retreive bait fish jumped, skitting out of the way of the rig, so gave it a couple more fruitess casts into the middle of them,
A blank, but the crimson and black velvet sunset was worth the watch and the wait..
Headed off for a Guinness or two (well it was St Patrick's Day)
Wednesday 18th Aberystwyth Over breakfast I made plans to try out the jetty by Aberystwyth Pier.
Working late, dinner and a couple more Guinness meant it was well after nightfall
when I finally got out armed with 99pence worth of supermarket mackerel fillet.
Just a crab in the first half hour, followed by a pin whiting.
Then I found the doggies and it was a fish a cast,
they might be much maligned but a novelty for me as they are rarity off the beach at Rhyl and on the light mps great fun.
Just time for another Guinness before bedtime!
