Fished our 3rd Winter league match today.

It was a Dee estuary rover, but all but 3 of the 19 anglers opted for the long walk to the green buoy at Talacre.

A biting Easterly brought showers of sleet and snow, but it wasnt too bad behind our brolley.

There was a lot of melt water coming down the river, which put the fish off, but i still managed to come out on top with a bag of 11 Dabs and a Whiting.

Daddy came third with 9 Dabs and a Whiting, but catches were less than half of what we usually get from here, so roll on the spring when the fishing should be much better.

Less than 20 fish is a poor day there, and in the xmas period 30 to 40 Dabs and Whiting is the norm!

Deserves a result for the extra stress of sorting out a match on a venue with a reputation for catching people out.

We usually fish Talacre 3 down and 1 up, giving you plenty of time to get off the beach before the tide starts coming over the sand.

Always take a compass here as the fog can roll in in seconds, leaving you completely disorientated! Be sure to take bearings on the way out.

You can almost guarentee fish here, at any time of the year, but the winter ( November to January ) has to be the best time, with loads of Dabs and some big Whiting.
