| In response to a recent question here is a pic, taken this morning, of the hulk of the City of Ottowa, almost covered by the mud in Rhyl Harbour. She's been there since 1906. _________________ we call it fishing not catching!

| Great pic's lads. Did she sink in the harbour or was she towed in? |

| Thanks all for the information on the City Of Ottawa, Congerman , again I have not seen that picture. Of interest is the 2 funneled tug boat towing her, never seen one of those before, I presume the wide berth to give 2 engine maneuverability. Thanks Paul for taking the photo, in my day you would have had water to your chin. The photo in the link is more as I knew it 50 years ago. there was a bank of mud up against the sea wall full of small pink ragworms. I would stand on the lower part of the wreck, and trot a quill float down the pool which then was the main channel, only about a meter deep but full of mostly undersize flounder, at times it was a fish a cast, which I put in a keepnet and sorted out the few legal ones at the end of the day to take home. there must have been some line or net near the timber as some bigger ones were lost there. |
