If you are after relatively easy sport with
little tackle needed for the wrasse see my recent Holyhead report,
cut down a sabiki rig ( or shrimp rig or mackerel feather rig, just not big hooks ) to 3 hooks, and put about half an inch of rag worm
on each hook and drop straightdown the inside wall ie inside the harbour from say half way up to Highwater, no need to walk far along the breakwater, just peer over over and make sure you haven't picked a spot with obvious rocks.
Now and again flick the rig out a way to prevent line spooling and you might get a mackerel but the Wrasse are under the rod tip!
A couple of ounces of lead or maybe 3oz is sufficient. I tried an old spark plug last time but it wasn't champion - too light.
The only thing is I did see something a couple of days ago about road works on the last bit of country park road to the Stena buildings restricting vehicle access in some coming days. ( ignore the " no vehicles notice" at the Stena buildings by the way, drive around them and follow the lane towards the breakwater gate ( but don't park in front of it) but if that bothers you, you could park on the prom and walk ( there are two ways on foot, check out google maps if you haven't been before)
let us know how you get on wherever you go
