Me and Daddy had a little trip to Holyhead to try and add some minis for the hunt on Thursday.
The first mark was busy, but we gave it an hour until it went dark. We didnt see anyone catch anything fishy, although Terry almost managed to pull a bird. Not entirely sure what type it was, but it took the bait and was hooked in the beak, but managed to get off as he lifted it out of the water. I had less success with the bird i was concentrating on but she made for a nice view.
We moved on to the second mark, and were soon into fish with lots of Rock Gobies and small Poor Cod down the side.
The rods we had cast out remained alarmingly quiet, with just a small Whiting for Terry.
There were shoals of small Mackeral smashing the baitfish there too!
I tried half a Mackeral down the side for a Conger and had a bite first drop. I gave it a while but pulled in a chewed mackeral so thinking the bait may be too big, i made a Mackeral fillet sausage which did the trick next cast. I was hoping for a strap Conger but wasnt too disappointed when i brought up a stonking Shore Rockling which couldnt have been much under 1lb in weight.
The wind got up, so we went home.
Not the best sesh but nice easy fishing.
Happy Days!
