Hi All,
I fancied a few hours at splash- point this afternoon, it was quite calm just a little swell high tide 1 hour away.
The 1st cast was a donation of lead to Neptune....5oz with 2 clipped- up rig (if any one finds it great) .
I met a complete stranger to me , who was elderly " This is what you want to catch fish here!" He then gave me some rancid rotten herring " You must rub it all over your hands then the hook and bait" He assured me fish would throw themselves at the hook.
After a while 4 dogs( the woofy types) 1 cat and a gang of herring gulls looking quite fearless
were gathering , to close for comfort. The stench was horrific,it would of stayed in the car for too long.I threw it away......
I am sure he meant well or was it a wind up? Either way ...I had no fish .
Did Neptune not reward me or should I have put the smelly stuff on my bait.?
p.s. I am sure some of you know who he is..quite a local character..I will not name him as it would not be fair to him. I am sure he meant well.
