Is it possible to launch at the harbour before and after the tidal window?
I thought of putting the boat in,then anchoring up and waiting for the tidal window.
Maybe dropping a line in in the harbour at the same time.

Is it only the entrance to the harbour that dries out?

I've never launched from the harbour myself but it pretty well dries out, I'd suggest you leave your boat safely at home and first get a good eyeball at the harbour, it's many hazards, the channel and the training wall over Low and call in for a chat with the harbourmaster.

If you google Rhyl harbour and click on images you'll get a good idea

The photo below is a "stock photo" so not sure I can post it really but it shows something of the mud you don't want to tangle with

Thanks Paul,I'll have a google and try the u tube vid.

I thought maybe there might be enough water in the incoming about an hour before the 2.5hrs before high window.
Where do you launch your boat from?
Summer is slipping me by again,I haven't had my boat out yet.

Hi,

I'm a member at Prestatyn Sailing Club and launch from there. Summer is slipping by me too though and haven't had my boat out this year so far, looking at my trailer I need to do a spot of maintenance- always something to do and it's been a very busy year for me.

Hello,I remember you saying you were a member,I was talking to Graham that you went out with,he said I could launch from Prestatyn but whoever signs me in has to sign me out.
I was wondering if he signs me in,could someone else sign me out?
If G is out at the same time as me and one of us wants to go in,it could be a bit inconvenient.
I should phone him really, and see if it's a possibility.

I had a look for the email to look up the wording of the rule change but couldn't find it but I think the gist of it is that the member agreeing to put a guest in ( you know the setup with gate keys and the compound and club tractors) is responsible for staying around until the guest is back in, this wouldn't preclude the member from launching as well I believe but would maybe limit their day a bit

Arrange it not just turn up for this reason.

There is a fee for launching and don't forget your insurance.

Depending on the tide there can be a window when landing back on the concrete slip is not advisable.

Caught this from Graham's boat

Nice Tope Paul, the best I managed from his boat was a 4lb Bass.
He's updated his boat by the way.
I'll phone him to find out the score.I've got insurance, and plan to register with Arthur at Rhyl harbour.
Next week looks promising, but Arthur said if there is a North or NE wind launching is tricky from the harbour.
I expected a launching fee at Prestatyn.
I've been out a few times with graham from Conway, but my car is only a front wheel drive, and the trailer is hard to reverse.
