Hi all, I’m after a bit of venue advice. Does anyone fish Rhyl harbour, is it only a low tide mark? Is it mainly flatties and eels.

Thanks

Flounder mainly with the occasional Eel although it's stuffed with big Mullet but good luck with them fish
A neap tide is probably best, start fishing 4hrs before high and crab baits will stand the best chance of catching as worm baits get stripped in no time silent
Squidward is an expert on that mark thumbs up

I suppose you mean the crabs when you say stripping.Do you reckon it's worth dropping a baited crab net down for small hardbacks?

There are loads of flounders in there from April onwards but you will need peeler crab. They get switched on to feeding on crab as the peeling season starts and they ignore worm baits. I`ve had some good bags fishing the flood on the bend opposite The Range store, then the fish move up to behind the blue bridge over high water.

Is it possible to catch peelers in a crab trap?Or do they hide until they have changed?

They don`t feed at all while they`re peeling, so a baited trap won`t attract them. Some people have had a few with a net trap wrapped with dark material, they look for somewhere dark and safe to hide.

Thanks for the info.
I looked up what makes peelers good bait, apparently when they are peeling they emit amino acids.
I looked up amino acids, there's a bookfull. lol!

I dropped a full bag of omega 3 capsules on the floor the other day,I might use them in the chumbag next time out.
