Its a tough life when your wife insists on you taking her fishing somewhere! I'm a lucky chap!  Smile

We gave the Breakie a go for 2 hours up to High this afternoon, one rod close in, one further out, blow lug and mackie bait, lost a 4 oz lead and found a 2 oz one!

Just a fell off half way crab to show for it, might have been better into darkness but didn't fancy the forecast.

Should have tried Splashpoint instead!Holyhead 20200110

Looks like a great place, but i have yet to hear of any good catches from there, apart from variety of tiddlers.

Did you try any sabikis or shrimp rigs Paul? there have been quite a lot of herring coming from the inside the last few weeks.

No, that is my usual tactic too!
Used two hook flappers ( size 8 hooks on the close in rod and 1/0:further out) I did notice that the gulls kept swooping over a spot 150 yards further along though and wondered if there was a Herring shoal getting their attention.

Nice place,and convenient to fish.
Not on my list of venues these days unfortunately.
After a nearly 300 mile round trip and only catching tiddlers,(if you are lucky) and the lack of variety of species, the effort and time rule it out for me.
Ok for the locals I imagine, good place for a bit of fresh air and a suntan in the summer. lol!

Lack of variety? I`ve had as many as 15 species off there in a session, a few decent size fish and a lot of mini species. You have to change tactics and baits, fish over both sides and be prepared to lose some gear.

It's always good to get out! Well done for braving it in winter. Brrrr. I love the place as it's comfortable fishing. Squidward I agree, there are lots of opportunities for species hunting....sometimes it can be doggy central, just gotta move t about abit
