With some bait left over from his match at the weekend, Terry suggested we take Rhys to the Foryd for a couple of hours tonight for a Flounder bash.
There wasn’t a lot of water when we got there, but we knew it wouldn’t be long until it flooded.
This didn’t put the fish off though, with Terry missing a good bite on the first cast.
I also missed a bite on the first cast but I had sent my rig further towards the other side and into a snag. By the time I managed to release it, the fish had gone.
Next cast, Terry had a good bite which he left to develop. I also had a knock so left that too.
Terry reeled his fish in and had a good bend on his rod so Rhys and I went over to investigate. He reeled in 2 fish and 2 rigs. One of them being mine so I sorted my rig and fish out while he did likewise.
His was 1lb 15oz 4drms! A decent fish for any estuary.
Mine was considerably smaller but its another one chalked off for the hunt.
We carried on, with Terry catching another, smaller Flounder while Rhys and I both missed bites.
All too soon it was nearly dark and time to head home. Rhys and I had only had 4 casts each so a quick splash and dash with mission accomplished for me and Rhys was happy with the sandcastles he made.
We`ll be back on our favourite mark in the estuary before long for big Flounders and Eels.
