New PB River Mersey Cod !

After fishing the last Wirral Sea Fishing winter league match at Town Hall Steps on sunday morning and full up after a lovely Roast Beef sunday lunch at the egremont Ferry Pub, I decided to use up my bait and fish the low tide down.

It was a beautiful calm evening and I virtually had the beach to my self (apart from someone's front bumper washed up on the beach !)




I fished close to the rocks for the first hour, but all I was attracting was crabs !! I moved 100 yards to the right and first cast I had a 26cm codling. I baited up and cast out again and only about 2 minutes later I had to grab my rod and tripod to stop them from falling over with the force of the bite I had just had. The fish fought all the way in and I was happy to land a new PB cod from the shore of 3lb 1oz, 47cm (if only it had been a bit earlier during the match !     )


I stayed for perhaps another hour and a half and the bites were constant and I managed to land half a dozen more codling all in the 32-33cm size range.




Said coddo is now filleted and in the fridge ready for tonights tea

It made a refreshing change not to have any whiting or flatties !!

Nice fish, well done, a p.b. is always a good feeling.

No problems at all, why do you ask ??

The last time I fished the town hall you could park any where in front of the town hall, I have been told you can not park along there now, it was very handy if it was raining.

I park by the Eggy Ferry pub and then walk down.
