Croatia.
Would Dub' be good to me?
Just been to a conference in Dubrovnik.
The nitty gritty of the agenda for a pretty full on 4 days at the truly excellent Dubrovnik Palace Hotel would not leave much time for wetting a line but I took my tele rod and some lures in the hope Dub' would be good to me!
Flying across Germany I could see many rivers were clearly mud laden from the flood waters that have hit hard in parts of Europe.
The weather forecasts for Croatia were contradictory but it turned out we were in for jam hot.
The marketing people claim that from outer space the Adriatic is the bluest place on earth and I believe them!
Dubrovnik is the opposite of a big bad city
Very friendly, picture book and optimistic,
although it still bears some of the scars of the "Homeland War" in the 1990s
I'm told fans of " Game of Thrones" might recognise this bit, but I was more interested to see the big mullet hanging in the shallows beneath the city walls
A taster at Scuba diving confirmed that bait fish were within a rod length of the hotel pool!
"fatboy slim"!!
So early in the morning I tried the deeper water by the "restaurant on the rocks"
3 inch fish shoaled past by the thousand, not sure if they were Usata, Spar Fish or tiny Mullet but they showed no interest in shrimp lures and no sign of being harried by predators that might take the larger lure.
I'm not fussed about catching 3 inch fish but would maybe have tried catching them on bread but time was too short;
no fish then but Dubrovnik was good to me
and Notbad 2 will be delivered as soon as I find a trailer big enough...
