of work this week so with the kids doing my had in i needed to get a mid week session in.
so plans were pwhelli for a bream and maybe a gar then back the island to to target a ray and then later a conger somewere.
started the day the lids wouldnt get out of bed to go there nain's so after a bit of shouting got there an hour late. so set of got to fishing4u shop at ten had a nice brew. and of to pwhelli after an hour and a half (due to traffic and pwhelli market) got to my mark half hour before high.
i put 2 big rod's out loaded with maccie and squid and a scratching rod close in with crab.
first bite was close in and a nice flounder.
then dead for half an hour so switched scratching rod to worm and bingo.
only small but mission accomplished at that it was big rod's in and loaded with worm .
straight away.
not big but bream.
changed close in rig for feathers to get a few maccie and i could see the gars chasing them so i baited the feathers and retrieved them a bit slower and bingo second target fish aboard.
by now i thought that's job done when all hell broke loose bith big rod's were rattling like no one's buisness.
more bream all 2 at a time.
got two around 14 fish and the weed came on so decided to sack it as id achieved what i set out for.
so part 2 headed for the island and treauder bay. after an hour stuck in traffic i set up on my mark.
again 1 big rod out and a little one down the side and a 3rd for maccie. with maccie rod got a few launce and 6 maccie enough for bait .
so i baited the feathers with fresh maccie and had a steady stream of gurnard dabs and a few ballan down the side and a tiny codling.
even though i was getting a few fish it seemed a bit quiet by our standard's until the dogs came on.
i started thinking time too move and go of somewere for a strappie but nowing if i packed up id go home as id had such a good day. so i decided to load both rod's with crab to see if it would deter the dogs.
then came the crem de la crem.
one rod pulled over and nearly out the rest but i managed to grab it in time and strike what felt like a snag. then suddenly a slack liner i wound in and after what seemed ages had a good run out to sea. after a few minute's i got control of it and it started running for the shore i played it for about 5 minute's (on 15lb line and 10lb snood) and managed to lift it out in the swell and jump on it.
