Spur of the moment down to Pwllheli to fish opposite end of the beach to Gimlet.

A bright sunny day, millpond conditions got there 4 hours before High which was too early especially as many were paddling, swimming and standup paddle boarding so picked a slight gap and put the rods on the tripod to stake my claim but didn't bother fishing until things quietened a little.
The sand flies were irritating but a sun bathe and a paddle seemed the best way to wait my time.

I say quietened, some party goers continued to swim on in darkness, several bbqs got lit, standing up paddleboarding gave way to can supping and a yacht moored a couple of hundred yards out decided we all wanted to share his taste in music ( Christmas numbers - really?)

Bait was lug and squid, no sandeel to be had.

The mullet unbothered by the swimmers, cruised passed now and again only 5 to 20 yards out and judging by the dorsal fins showing some were of a good size.
Chap to my right had cast a fly at the mullet in between swimmers but gave up, though he
returned as darkness fell and told me he had recently had a bass on the fly.

Hopes climbed as the sun fell and the tide came in ( 9.30pm High)

No bites, but I'd happily try this beach again but maybe early morning next time or wait for winter.

Nice to see you are getting about a bit.
We used to launch from there and go over to Abersoch and the islands along St Tudwals road.(in the sea)
We used to have a dabble for the Bream just off Gimlet Rock on the way back in.
We had 15 different species on one occasion. The Welsh  Riviera  is one of my favorite places.

Its a shame, I always did well there, had some lovely bass fishing low water up from about teatime onwards. The marina channel  is also a great spot, ive had a couple of decent black bream from those boulders.
