| The fishing gods continue to conspire against me in recent months. There are worse things going on in the world though. Booked an apartment in Pwllheli right next to the sea for a short break. Views are great. 35 miles per hour wind kept me off the beach first couple of days. Had a good wind assisted walk to Abersoch though, came back on the bus. Also the fishing shop in Pwlllheli is shut due to the owner having covid, so I cannot get any decent bait until Tuesday at the earliest. The wind finally dropped yesterday evening. Got a few hours in on the beach, half a mile west of gimlet rock. Bait was raw king prawns and a bottle of oyster sauce. Can't get photos to upload, so you will have to make do with an attempt at a limerick. There once was a fisherman in Pwllheli Who tried to make supermarket bait a bit smelly He had not a bite Looked at the stars half the night Still better than watching the telly. |

| Bait shop still shut. Just unfortunate covid timing.
Going out again later armed with "fresh" raw prawn from asda. Will try a bit in the daylight. |

| Interesting post at least your trying, you deserve a fish after all your troubles. I saw a couple of videos on you tube were they used squid strips or sand eel and caught a few fish from the beach there, could be worth a trip to criccieth he some times has frozen bait |

| Put in a few more hours in the daylight today. Not a knock. Pleasant fishing conditions though. Enough bait left for one more go.
I am planning on being in Criccieth tomorrow as it happens, but the plan is train there and walk back. It is about 12 miles. |

| Walk ended up being further than we thought. 16.7 miles. Fishing will have to wait till tomorrow. |

| One bite missed. Switched smaller rod to baited sabki rig. Think it is too early for bream though. |

| No joy. Two bites but no hookup. A local had two thornbacks a few days ago but advised another month before summer species arrive. |

| If you have another couple of days, you could try for a ray. Long sliver of mackerel on a sliding ledger rig.(silver belly strip) They've probably got mackerel at asda.(there's more variety at morrisons for bait) Good luck |
