We had a club match on the breakwater yesterday, measure and return with no size limit. I decided to stick to the outside wall as we won't ever be able to fish it again after this winter when they start the construction work on there. All the top bags came from the inside, mostly small wrasse but there was a decent sized ray caught.
My first fish came on my 2nd cast, a 52cm pollack  2lb 14  oz, I'd left my scales in the car sso went back down the steps to weigh it.Holyhead breakwater Sam_0912
I had a ballan  shortly afterwards 34 cm and then it went quiet for a while until I hit into a conger around the 10lb mark, after a struggle for a few minutes and trying to handline it up the wall the inevitable outcome on 20lb snood line happened it bit the hook off. Only an idiot would take a drop net to a match and leave it in the car. bounce

Would that conger have put you in the prizes ? Mad

I wouldn't have made the top 4 but definitely the longest fish prize.

Stena will allow organised club matches with third party liability insurance cover , all clubs affiliated to the W.F.S.A. can get 10 million pounds cover for somewhere around £200.

Special permission for matches if clubs have the correct 3rd party insurance.
