Project Notbad 1. Update Twelve , The boat that rocks!
The first launch a week ago had been fun but spoiled by a lack of oomph in the drive department and a better play safe return to shore.
I am hugely grateful to Jason "Mytime" for sorting out the engine, a cork washer had disintegrated and was interfering with the fuelling - all sorted thanks to Jase
Saturday morning was looking gorgeous a quick call to Mehmet on the beach ( where else would he be!) to confirm what Hilbre weather station was telling me and we were set to launch on the ebb from PSC
Jason did the tractor launch for us and off we went
We were afloat, all was well with the engine and we were fishing aboard Notbad 1 at last!
Mehmet had the honour of bringing the first fish aboard Notbad 1
My first catch on Notbad 1
Small but that whiting meant a lot to me!
Jensen Sea Angling Charters came to play
Clueless Too came to visit us
It's been a twelve month project to strip out and refit her and I've had a lot of help, a few setbacks and learned a lot along the way, but she floats, goes and catches fish.
I've plenty to learn yet and there's still a few toys on the wish list; following sea trials there's a few little mods to make including moving the trailer axle back to shift the balance so she doesn't rock and rattle so much under tow, so expect an occasional "project" post, but throwing the curtains wide on Saturday morning, seeing the sun shine and being able to spontaneously decide to go out on my own boat at last is bloomin' great!
From here on fewer project posts and more fishing reports from out by the post!
