October - An early birthday present from Tina - back to Norway, this time on the 1964 built MS Lofoten from Kirkenes on the Russian border down to Bergen.
Hammerfest saw an opportunity to get the tele rod out for a herring style lure dropped down by the hull, the third drop found Mr Cod
Next opportunity was at Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands, I hoped for something bigger in darkness but the Saithe insisted on jumping on the hook with around 15 in 20 casts and bumps that didnt quite hook on the other 5
Still well north of the Arctic Circle the snow storm arrived sideways and with the fishing too easy we went back aboard. MS Lofoten has no stabilisers and the storm driven crossing over the open sea was a rolling one!
At the end of the voyage the storm tattered flag was auctioned and I found myself in a bidding war with a German, just when he thought it was all over a last bid from me and it was 1966 all over again!

Interesting report. Looked pretty cold .
Shame no foreign pots or crates but nice to see some fish. That travel rod looked maxed out on the cod. Not sure if it would have taken to a bigger fish anyway.

Pretty cold ( we even went dog sledding) yet somehow Rhyl feels colder!
Some of the coastal route stops are very quick and the boat is underway again in 10 to 15 minutes so I learned last time that a tele rod is needed to take advantage of the briefest opportunities, as this limits lifting power I went with 30Lb line straight through in case of having to handline one up, a bit thick on the small reel so I had a second spool with braid and a rag to wrap round my hand in case

Pots pic in the gallery- as if I'd forget!
