A year ago while we was out wreck fishing a Porbeagle shark chased a Bullhuss up from the depths. In the early hours of Monday morning 6 of us set sail from Rhyl harbour on board suveran 2 skippered by Simon parry to try to catch one of these magnificent sharks. We headed to the same wreck as last year 44 miles offshore and around 3 hours to get there which was broken up with 2 stops mackerel bashing for bait Once we had enough macky we was on our way again Kev started playing with his tackle Once we we're over the wreck we had a couple of drifts over it for pollock and coalfish for larger Shark baits. At anchor the Shark baits and rubby dubby went in as well has big mackerel baits on the bottom for congers , ling or tope My shark float went screaming off SHARK ON after an 2hr battle we had one we unhooked it in the water and it swam off to fight another day Only joking I can dream can't I Kev however did come closest to catching one though this was a FULL Pollock In the last few hours of the trip the Tope came on the feed Adam was first to catch one and I think it was his first ever Tope a cracking 45lber Dan was next to hook one Followed by a couple for the silver fox Even Jim caught a nice one And i sort of caught one Before we knew it was time to go back in 3 hrs back in but I did have Kev telling me how brilliant I am all the way back in We all had a cracking day catching Mackerel , whiting , pollock , coalfish , ling , tope , dogfish bullhuss and a gurnard Thanks lads we had a laugh and Thanks Si for another great trip

You lucky lads, what a great trip. Sounds like you could have done with more rubby dubby (chum) Apparently,a constant scent trail brings the sharks in. I'm no expert,Haha,I just watch Greame Pullen on utube.

My first shark hunt was in Adelaide in 1961/2. I got invited by some Aussie mates We got on board the boat, but there were no fishing rods. I said, where are the fishing rods? One of the Aussies pointed to 3 Lee Enfield rifles in the cabin. They brought an old sheep on board, and put a cable through it,then slashed it to make the blood run out. Then tossed it astern. They cruised at about 3mph,in no time, the cable twanged like a guitar string,FISH ON. They put 3 mags of 303 bullets into the sharks, the water boiled, and it started a feeding frenzy. I thought, not a lot of point in a life jacket,Haha. The following weekend they asked me if I wanted to have a go at water skiing, I said,er,no thanks.
