Picked up Old Gregg and off we popped. Bait was fresh(ish)black from my local, bit better than usual.
Arrived for 3pm and there were plenty fishing already. It was colder than I thought it would be, but it is winter..
A few had had a couple of fish but nothing special, we were fishing in no time...sorry trying! first hour and a half nothing, had the odd tiny tip rattles and assumed it was tiny pins whiting. Nothing appeared to come out from the guys closer to us. Old Gregg dragged in a mussel, as my tip knocked slightly I left it a couple of mins to develop and pulled in the change bait as it had gone dead again. Blank avoided, mini codling on.
We fished until half hour after high with the odd slight tip knocks that increased as night fell, Old Gregg was willing the fish to jump on his hook using his Jedi mind tricks.
Obviously still a Padawan
Nearly all had buggered off home on the high but we kept at it for another half hour, Old Gregg pulled in a crab and we called it a day. Get in! Little whiting on.
Still got some fresh, now frozen black left over for another trip.
Tide was the "lowest" high tide of the month, not sure if it affected the fishing but plenty turned out to have a go. So assumed it would be a decent session, looks like a fair few decent codling came in just further up near the pump station a few days earlier. This could be why it was so busy, got to test my new winter trouser coverall things and they were great. Like walking round in a sleeping bag!
