| The god of cod has not been merciful....the last 4 weeks have been a mixed bag, not just due to my lack of cod but fishing in general. I have fished- Mariners Wharf, Otterspool, Perch Rock and THS for the first time. Weekend one was an unrelenting whiting fest and one flatty, weekend two was similar but with a rocking thrown in for good measure. Now...weekend 3 and my first trip to the Wallasey town hall steps at low was poor, couple of whiting, small dab and a starfish, Otterspool slow but landed a few whiting. This weekend I sneaked into a small gap in the fishing match at Otterspool, had more crab than fish (whiting). Tonight I did the low tide at Perch Rock, not been in long and am now regaining feeling in my fingers and toes...but it was good!. Arrived to see by torchlight a cod, only small but gold none the less being pulled in but one of the 3 brave souls fishing. Chose my spot and attempted to setup up, FAIL....I had decided to fish one rod before I left and took out a reel, then looked for a tip light so took the other reel out my bag...didnt put it back in. Ran back to the car in the hope I had left my old buggered reel in the mess I call a boot, confidence was low as I thought I had seen it in the house but it was there...fish on! Bit of a tide pull on at first and quite calm conditions, but very slow. As low arrived I was glad I only took one rod, it picked up big time. Loads of whiting and flatties, double headers etc I didn't notice the wind had started blowing until I tried baiting up again..hands were frozen but catching plenty I was happy. Packed up as the tide came up the beach, guy who had the cod had just caught his third(3lbs) and was packing up. Didn't catch my target again but was out and enjoyed it. First time out on my own (no littluns) was strange not hearing I'm- bored, hungry, thirsty, battery dead in phone, when we going home(until we start catching and they say they don't want to go home ) Missed um lol. Caught a good size whiting that startled me when I realised by torchlight it had and eye missing, strangely enough another later on had a huge eye and a normal one. Will put pic of it on tomorrow.

| Is that little brick building at Otterspool a new public convenience? They could do with one down there. Haha, some of us need a hit and a miss every so often.(Too often) |
