Flaming June

After a couple of good soakings on the forested slopes of the Cumbrian mountains last Wednesday I thought a session on Drigg beach would dry me out a bit as the sun was shining down there

Or at least it was for half an hour until a roll of thunder heralded the imminent arrival of a heavy downpour












The rain was getting heavier and I'd left my waterproofs behind
It was a good job I had my Sunnyrhyl Hoodie for protection  

There a bit like the old school apron that would protect you from everything between molten metal to exploding chemicals  

The time was approaching 9pm, half hour to go before high and the rain was moving out to sea and towards the Isle of Man which looked like it had been getting more than it's fair share of the sun anyway  



By now even my pants were getting wet (which aren't Sunnyrhyl issue) and I hadn't had so much as a knock let along a bite

From the start the sea was flat and clear so I thought my best bet was to target flatties and upto now I'd been using a one up one down red and yellow beaded Rig with defrosted sticky Lug but for my last cast before I wimped out and went to dry off I switched to a 3 hook clip down rig with the green luminous beads and tried for a little more distance.......

Five minutes later

RESULT  



Moral of the day
It's always worth trying a different approach even in damp pants
