Myself & my mate Greg made the most of the sunny weather and decent tide to head for Mariner's Wharf in the hope of Rays and perhaps an early sole !
Greg was soon into small codling and then whiting and all I could manage was a few crabs !
I then had a small codling on my sole rig close in, but I think I was a) too early for sole, b)too early in the day !
An hour before high we switched to ray baits and I started to bring in whiting on the ray baits that were smaller than the ray baits !
About 30 minutes into the ebb, I thought I had been hit by some weed or driftwood, but on reeling in realised that seaweed didn't fight back. Thanks to Greg for bringing his landing net and for his help in landing this 5lb 9oz Thorny a new PB shore Thorny for me by 8oz
Greg managed another Whiting and also christened his new(ish) Bass rod !I managed another couple of whiting, quite long but very skinny the best going to 39cm and 3/4lb
It was a great session, but I wish I had taken sun cream as my arms are on fire !!
