Saturday and we arrived at PSC at a civilized 9am for my first launch this year, it seemed a tad windier than the XCweather forecast N/ NW 6mph and overcast with a feel it could turn broody so with the readings from the Hilbre bouy in mind and being the first time out this year we decided not to venture further than the rough ground although radio chatter confirmed some silvers were showing further out on the banks
We anchored not far from the post
and it looked like a good call when with his first cast Mehmet had a Bass!
Next up we were into Dabs a plenty
but winding in it seemed the fish were taking the lead uptide then we glanced back at the post and it dawned we were slowly dragging the anchor and overrunning the bait.
Some of the Dabs were postage stamp sized but others were so chunky I had to convince myself they weren't flounder with the smooth one way rough the other test
Today was the Llandudno Air Show and a flying boat (Catalina?) passed overhead.
I'd brought crab hoping for a Smoothie and we moved to where I had a few last year but only found doggies
The wind eased and out came the sun
The Dabs continued non stop we must have boated 30 yet no other flatties, one Whiting, about ten doggies and just the one Bass.
Even without more Bass the fishing was the dogs wot sits ( caught them too!)
The really magic moment came as I was looking down tide watching the rod tips when a dark back broke the surface 40 feet behind the boat, I grabbed the camera but didn't think to switch to video so unfortunately you'll have to use your imagination as I failed to get a pic of a Porpoise as it surfaced every few yards as it passed us.
Magic place the Dee Estuary!
To round the day off the Red Arrows screamed overhead,
again I was a bit late with the camera but you can just make them out if you try hard enough!
A cracking day and good to get my boat out once more!
