Woke up to seventy mile an hour winds ,was going sack it but , rained stopped so I decided to go on my local cauldon canal piking with my mate Andy , first job was to catch my roach live baits ,it was hard going but I managed 7 little perfect size roach on pinkie , in a hour .. My mate was lure fishing ,so it was game on lure vs live baits ..
On is secound cast Andy caught this cute little fellow
I fished fifty yards to his left and in the first hour I missed three bites ,bites come as soon as I cast in . Then after three missed bites my swim went dead , so I found a very pikey looking swim another 100 yards to my left , first cast only been in two minutes and jack pike number one soon found its prey
Soon unhooked him ,cast out again and straight away had this cute little fellow
Then straight back in again minutes later pike number three
Then I ran out of bait ,three pike in less then half an hour , would have had lots more if I caught more roach ,had to pack in early was going out for the night for my brothers 40th birthday . Nothing like watching your float go under as a toothy critter nails it's prey . Looking forward to dusting my sea fishing tackle of to go talacre this weekend ..Andy only had the one so bait out fished the lures ...
