Pensarn last night

Only 9 members turned up for our match last night, but the ones who didn`t missed a cracking night`s fishing. We started a couple of hours after low water and the tide was flooding fast, so I decided to fish for dabs until the water got a bit deeper. 3 size 2 hooks were all loaded with 3 or 4 inches of 18 day old stinking lug tipped with a sliver of mackerel, but the dabs didn`t want to play. However. you know what they say about the best laid plans, I wasn`t expecting what happened in the first two casts,




a 41 cm. codling and a 32 cm. whiting.
As the water got deeper the whiting came on in their multitudes, although 3 or 4 of every 5 were undersize we all managed decent bags of bigger ones. I finished up with 13 whiting, a codling and a doggie to take 2nd place, plus the heaviest fish prize for the codling at 0.68 kgs.
