Low water last night was a bit too windy to make for comfortable fishing, but I managed to find a couple of smoothies, one of 5lb 2oz, and one about a pound lighter, apart from those I had a couple of weevers and Headwyn had a little thornback.Pensarn last night. Sam_0813

The first smoothie took frozen prawn with ragworm and the second, squid with prawn. Raw king prawn from Sainsburys makes a good substitute when you can`t get crab.

Thanks for info. Seeing the pump in the background was what made me curious.

I've had some success with raw king prawn in the past. (Not able to fish at all myself at the moment unfortunately.)

Nice catches!

I always think raw supermarket prawn
somehow looks expensive when I buy it but its not really when compared to what I'd pay for other bait in a tackle shop without thinking about it!

Tight lines to you as soon as you are able to fish again!

Something like 3 bags for a £10 at Morrisons so not too bad if you buy in bulk.

On the topic of expensive bait - has anyone ever tried fishing with langoustine?

Yes, just once,  tried fishing with langoustine over the rocks by the pier in Aberystwyth, nothing caught to report as I recall. Think I am right in saying the Langoustine was a bit smelly. Can't find a report but must have been about 2008. Frozen lug was £4 a pack in Aber even back then so Morrisons fish aisle end of day bargains seemed a pretty good option by comparison.
