Arrived at shell island sat 20 sept ..got there in the afternoon it was a gorgeous Autumn day !! ..soon set my tent up cooked tea chilled out .. First session sat morning high tide and two hours of the ebbing tide ..fished two hours with a skitter pop not one single follow .fished another hour in the estuary with a white sluggo ,another blank .. On the plus side it was a lovely morning and catching a bass would have just been the icing on the cake ..
When back to my tent and cooked my self some bacon nice brew then pondered on my next sortie ,not much surf I opted to dig some maddies out the estuary and fish my 10 foot spinner rod with braid ,holding it and feeling for bites in the little surf ...
Fished size 4 hook hoping for small schoolies and flatties .. End result one little plaice so blank avoided on day one lol
Day two same condishions with no schoolies showing yesterday I blingged my rig up a bit solely for flatties
Caught one little flounder and on very light tackle but up a nice little scrap ..
Session four , day two still.. arrived at my fav high water mark to fish two hour of the ebbing tide ,with the load of maddies I had dug earlier.. This mark fishes very well one hour before high ,but I opted to just fish ebb in the dark ,arrived dead on high water ..there was a holiday angler fishing there with a nice bass nr the four pound mark laying on the shingle ...filled me with some confidence ,what u have that on owddd I asked he replied a little bit of frozen mackerel ..
I soon had my maddies in the very little surf ...
Two hour of fishing missed one good bite ,another blank ,give out more surf next few days so seeing a bass on the shore I felt confident for tomorrow ....part 2 follow soon ...
