Goby Desert

90 minutes over High at Aberystwyth Wooden Jetty.

Known locally as “The Wooden Jetty” it isn’t the North Beach jetty I’ve fished recently,
it’s the boulder protected arm on the Northern side of the harbour. Somewhere hereabouts some guy had 15 bass recently.



Sent out a double flapper, a big hook with double rag hoping for a bass
and a rag tipped size 6 artificial shrimp for the minis.


Second cast and a big gobbed goby/shanny/blenny thingy
hadn’t read the instructions - he took the big hook.



10 young rods arrived with 3 instructors from the Ceredigion Angling Coaching Project.
Over an hour they only caught one goby/shanny/blenny thingy and nearly landed
a crab between them but their obvious enthusiasm for the excursion was a delight.

I showed them how with a cute flounderette!




Deserted by hopes of a bass I finished with another goby/shanny/blenny thingy on the shrimp and headed off to a nearby oasis for a gobful of shandy beery thingy.
