a few bits Empty
PostSubject: a few bits   a few bits EmptyMon Apr 16, 2012 8:39 pm

Been walking the dog on the river most evenings and over low water ive been looking for fish holding area's. so the other night on the big tides i noticed a hole that hold's water on low. and thought id have a few hours last night to see what it holds.
got there 2 hours before high using 2 hook one down one up rigs with tronix size 4 circle hooks to see if they hook up better than normal ones.
Bait was fresh peeler. and casting about 20yd's out as the tide run. waited 5 minutes before my 1st bite and i had a couple of small y/ting.
Undetered i thought id carry on till high water. then i get a small flounder lip hooked.

a few bits 001-14

as the light faded another small one.

a few bits 004-9

Followed by a small dab.

a few bits 003-13

Quiet happy by now and the dog shivering i thought time to pack up and head home i put one rod down and as i did i had a better bite on the other and caught a plaice.

a few bits 002-11

Mission accomplished and another spot to catch plaice. the tronix circle hook's worked well all fish bar the dab were lip hooked. so i'll be using them a lot more.

Well done on the fish you deserve to catch after doing your homework like that. I like the circle hooks too most of the time they do what they're supposed to i used to use razor claw ones. but i don't seem to be able to get them any more so Ive bought some vmc sport as they seemed to be about the same pattern but haven't had chance to try em yet
