From Babs in South Wales to Dabs in North Wales on the same day!
Down in South Wales for a meeting about a meeting and the thought of the dismal, dark drive back North on a Friday night didn't appeal.
Decided I might as well stay over in Pembroke, fish the morning tide and drive back in daylight.
set a 4 O'clock alarm to see me on Pendine's sea wall at 5a.m.
Wind direction was perfect but much stronger than desirable,
combined with a big tide 6oz wasn't holding but 8oz did the trick.
3 1/2 hours up and over High passed quickly but with just the taste of salt on my lips to show for it.
Cut my losses at 8.30am and set the satnav for home,
driving up through mid-Wales I lost count of the number of Redkites marking the route
but thought Aberystwyth might be worth a go.
A bit rough!! Didn't stop.
Back Home and Rhyl didn't seem a much better prospect; collected Mehmet and did a recce of Llandudno North Shore, better sheltered but there were more headlamps showing than on the A55 - forgot there was a match on!
Settled on 100 yards West of The Arches at Colwyn Bay for a session up to High.
Comfort fishing out of the back of the car and the wind was no problem here
The water was still 30 yards from the wall and I was still tackling up
when The Maestro reeled in his first cast bass at 8.30pm
Immediately followed by his second cast bass!
He went on to bag more than his quota of "Welsh sardines"
Caught a few myself and added a couple of decent dabs before waving the chequered flag at midnight.
