I have caught them from Pwhlleli area once. On a boat. Shrimp rigs baited with small bits of frozen prawn. The skipper was surprised it worked, but I caught more of them than anyone else that day.

No idea of best dates for that part of the world, other than summer time.

I prefer a small hook, say 1/0 aberdeens that are strong enough.
Bream have small mouths but are strong fighters.
Even freshwater carp hooks smaller than 1/0 work.
I prefer a running ledger.
I've caught them on small bits of Limpets.
A shrimp with a bit of Limpet to keep it on the hook works.
They can't take big baits.
Had them within beach casting distance from a boat at Gimlet rock.
They are attracted by a scent trail,so maybe use a cage feeder.
Cage feeder with weight attached on a running ledger ?

Gimlet Rock and float fishing for them was recommended to me but never did get around to trying it.

As for time of year can't entirely recollect but my mate who had caught them there before suggested camping so it wasn't Winter!
