New to the group and new to the sport

Hi all I'm lee nice to meet u all am new to the sea fishing game and is something add like to give a go preferably on the beach and the peir aswell am based in the northwest and have a good couple of beaches around me any advice on a simple set up for a newbie to just go out and catch not fussed what I get or where I go cheers

Feel free to ask any questions we all began somewhere and most of us are still learning!

Personally I like the simplicity of a pulley rig , the hook clips to the weight for streamlined casting and detaches its grip on impact with the water and deploys, then the fish hopefully hooks itself as it pulls the hook against the resistance of your lead weight -but others may prefer other set ups, I 'd say though do keep things simple and use a set up you have confidence in.
You can catch a big fish on a small hook buts its not so eady to catch a small fish on an overlarge hook.

Thanks guys well I'm off to presthaven sands week after next so hope I can get a practice in there why on the beach any tips on where to have a bash and what bate to use ? What line am I best to use plan to pick up some gear this week

Hi Lee, You can get loads of advice on fishing from both here and books and mags but my advice would be to make sure you are safe even the beach can be a very dangerous place the sea is very powerful so give it respect.
