| I met up with Hot Shot last night for a comfy session over high water at Rhos on Sea We had frozen lug and Mackerel and Alan had some rag worm too. Slow wasn't the word For the first hour we didn't get a bite then about 45 minutes before high the water literally boiled right in front of us turning the sea into a White bait and Mackerel broth Niether of us had spinning rods but we did have feathers so the bait rigs came off and the feathers went on and went in with hardly any need to cast as a short lob was putting us smack bang in the middle of the melee, the fish were throwing themselves onto the hooks We just hoped nobody we knew would see us Macky bashing with big beachcasters when a hand line would have done They were mostly Joeys with the odd decent one in between but we had string fulls of them. Most went back but we kept the damaged ones for bait, after 15 minutes we'd had our fun so the feathers came off and the bait rigs went back on with some fresh Mackerel but nothing took it not even a bite, Alan tried using a couple as live bait hoping that some Bass might have been about but had no luck either The other Macky bashers that were about started to disappear as it went dark but the few that stayed were still catching them even though the light had gone Parents had brought their children along to fish and to see the smiles on the kids faces as they were catching three four or five fish at a time was priceless I also finally got to use a reel that I've had since the beginning of the summer, a Penn Battle 2, very pleased with its super smooth action |

Good luck with that KD,Where are you planning to fish? I've not fished off the pier for about 40yrs,but I believe it's worth a go. The parking has put me off to tell you the truth. With it being mid October,it will probably be easier to park. Don't forget to wrap up and stay warm,us old chaps feel the cold. |
