| Hello everybody,I'm new on here. I am a pensioner and have a 14ft family speedboat that I intend to use for sea fishing. I have been out with mates from Prestatyn on their boats, camped and fished from Cornwall and St Davids. This is the first boat I have owned,it has an 18HP Evinrude on it and a 5hp auxiliary engine. I may be able to get some assistance off my mate at Prestatyn on my first launch, but he may not be available. I will have my brother with me,but I am a bit unsteady on my feet. I was wondering how difficult it would be to launch from the new slip in Rhyl Harbour. it's an open boat with no cuddy, and is quite light in weight. It's insured and I intend to register it with the Rhyl Harbourmaster on my first trip out. Is the tide window 2 hours either side of high tide? If I go out on the incoming how long would I able to stay out? I don't have a 4x4,just a VW diesel estate. I'm not totally green, but any advice will be gratefully recieved. |

Hi Stevo,and thanks
I'm from Droylsden Your near me mate I'm in Gorton and fish droylsden canal regular That could be handy,I fish it myself at the Marina sometimes.Im have found a spot not far away that's teeming, very comfortable and on the opposite bank to the towpath.I have to watch where I fish these days,Im not exactly Rocky Marciano anymore,it can get dodgy on your own. What do you do for a living ? Have you got a boat? Do you fish out of Rhyl harbour? We used to camp on Anglesea and take a couple of boats, great crack, mackerel on the bbq and a few beers. |

I mostly lure fish for pike on the canal but if you know a spot that is teeming with fish then I'm up for a little session I'm a warehouse manager with a box making company in audenshaw No I don't have a boat it's on my to buy list but I do fish on Rhyls Charter boats and around the harbour

Sorry lads,I'm not into football, last time I went to a match it was at Old Trafford in 1960. I think Pancho Hayes was playing in the reserves.I do remember Danny Blanchflour though and Bert Trautman Haha.(Giving my age away there) |

| We'll have to keep in touch, maybe get it together.I try my boats out on the river weaver at winsford, there's a free slip and a nice 3 mile stretch before the first lock. I broke my foot about 2 yrs ago,and I can't get out of first gear because of it.I'm hoping I can launch my boat but it might be a bit of a struggle. |

on the canal let me know mate and we'll sort something out Thanks for the offer,I'll definately take you up on it. I'll need to get my head into gear,I've been dodging in and out doing a few bits on the boat between the rain showers. |

Feel free Thanks Logger, I used to get to Wales at least once a fortnight when I was fitter, usually with my mates who had bigger boats. I've got this one because it's lighter and smaller, and hopefully easier to launch. Colwyn bay looks a handy launch, but the tide window is a bit small, and I don't have a 4x4. There was a few of us and we used to camp at Benlech, but the gang has split up. I've got a good mate who's in the Prestatyn club, but he's upgraded and at my age I think I cramp his style(dodgy legs) Hence the smaller boat so I can get out on the water. |

| Welcome to the forum. Rhyl harbour you get 2 and a half hours either side of high water to get in and out. For launching on the slipway if you need they will do it for you with their tractor. I can't remember the cost but you can store your boat in the yard with launch and retrieve with their tractor included for a year. Think it's about £500 for that but don't quote me on it. Best speaking to Arthur the harbour master or mark his assistant |
