Shell Island

Has anyone got any tips for fishing Shell Island?
Not been there before. Are we talking sandy beach fishing and a harbour?
Any rocky bits?

Are we talking sandy beach fishing - YES but might only fishable in the evening. Low tide produces but can be weedy.

and a harbour? -YES, great for crab fishing, not sure about any good for fish fishing

Any rocky bits? -YESish - harbour entrance at North end of Island as I recall - I think one of the better spots during  daytime  as will be a bit quieter than main beaches.

Essential shell island items - crab lines, wind break, spare tent pole(s), gaffer tape, and another wind break if you have space.

I think we are heading back there at end of August. Not been since that gone but not forgotten fishing forum had a weekend there. Happy days!

Hay up  mike fished there loads of times while camping .. In the estury I've had flounder eels and school bass crab is a must though ...

On the beach left of the estury entrance at low water if there a surf running same again plenty school bass I've had lots over the years there but not bigger than a pound ..u can dig some good blow lug in the estury .. Blowlug good there on the beach for the schoolies .. If the surf not to heavy I stood there holding a carp rod and one once lead and flicked it no more than 15 feet from where I was standing and had 10 school bass one morning that was fun .. I've also had little bass there on a popper if the sea calm in the morning again great fun .my best bass fom shell was a four pounder on a shad lure ..
The. Right of shell going towards the estury is rough at high ground but nice clean sand at low ..that's where I done all my bait fishing there at low up to mid tide .. Fish the rough ground if its calm with a popper ..to the left of the island it's rough ground right down to low water ..never fished here but is very good they say for bigger bass on crab .. Right to the left of the island is all sand and where most go swimming .. Never fished there but last time I was there ..there was a cracking gully at the high water mark that screams bass if condishions are right ..hope this helps mike

I believe at high tide the island actually becomes an "island" and your cut off unlike Anglesey which has a bridge you can escape on, this being the case will your report be eligible for the international reports section 

If the wind blows hard enough it might become an Isle of Man report

Yes mike there is frozen fish bait at the camping shop there .plus there is two fishing shops in Barmouth that always sell ragworm crab

Apparantly there's a Helipad, if that helps??
