Venue - Holyhead Breakwater
Tide - High
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug, Fresh Rag, Peeler Crab, Fresh Mackerel

I fancied a change of scenary a bit of comfy fishing so HHBW fitted the bill.

I stopped off at Geoff's to pick up some Fresh Rag, Fresh Peeler and some frozen Mackerel before setting off. A stop off at the Abergele McDonalds for a Double Sausage and Egg breakfast and I was just an hour away from wetting a line.

Or so I thought!!!!
The Westbound A55 was shut in 2 places on Anglesey. Severel detours around the island brought back happy memories of summer treks many years ago.

I finally arrived and made a stop off at the entrance to see if there were any Mackerel about.
There were! 2 casts and 4 Mackerel mean't that the Ammo Mackerel was not required after all.

A strong SW wind influenced my decision of where to fish. I decided to use the partial shelter between the first and second bends.

I setup 2 beachcasters with 3 hook flappers and used a variety of the baits. Both cast out 50yds or so.

My telescopic Abu Enticer spinning rod got a rare outing. With a Wychwood Rogue loaded with 8lb braid and a string of small Hokai's, down the side mini-species were the target.

Dogfish were liking the Mackerel at distance.

The light gear was the busiest though.

A lovely coloured Ballan.

Lots of Corkwing's.

A couple of Scorpion Fish.

A few more Dogfish followed at range and then a right good knock on the light gear and something started taking line!

A frantic half a minute followed and eventually a decent Ballan broke the surface.
The photo doesn't do it justice but it weighed a shade under 1 1/2lb.

Elsewhere, reports were patchy. Some lads were doing well with the Mackerel, but a few others just reported the odd Doggie.

A great day fishing a very easy venue.
Time to head home.

Happy Days!!!

Well done Mike.

Looks like a trip to the Breaky is in order during half term.

A much better Breakie read than the one on page 128 of Sea Dangler (15-May to 10-6)

neither McDonald's nor scissors in that one.
