March 2013
Hopefully getting closer to the maiden launch!
It's been a few months since I bought "Notbad 1" and with help set about fixing the trailer, replacing the rotten deck and blinging her up a bit ,
BEFORE.
AFTER
It would have been nice to get it wet last Autumn but my expectation was always to launch Spring this year.
After an RNLI "Safety on Board Day" down at the club,
I've given the engine a bit of a service and had it running in a bin of water,
it seemed strong to me and was pumping water well but I'm no expert really!
Slow idle was however difficult to hold on to and the pull required on the starter cord had me feeling I should try eating spinach,
It's not worth risking a stubborn engine, so I've just dropped the outboard in at M.E.S Marine for a professional looking at ( fingers crossed!)
The boat is otherwise ready for a wetting -although ideally I'd like an engine upgrade and I can think of plenty more toys I'd like to fit but I'd better check she floats first.
First the skipper needs a bit of an oil
So yesterday I spent around 8 hours in the class room on a radio course presented by Frank Ratcliffe of North Wales Power and Sail
( highly recommended! ) hosted by Prestatyn Sailing Club, I couldn't see how it could fill a full day but there really was a lot to take in!
So could be a launchtime soon, some nice March, April or dare I say.....Mayday!
