An Eventful Summer so Far Empty
PostSubject: An Eventful Summer so Far   An Eventful Summer so Far EmptySat Aug 05, 2023 4:49 pm

Time has passed since my last write up, we have been towed back in by the wonderful RNLI two times this summer overheating problems the first time about 5 miles out so that was 3 to 4 weeks out trying to resolve the issue, we did a couple of short journeys to get the trust back in the boat went just down to the Little Orme and when we went to cruise home the steering had gone on investigation the pivot pin had come out and sunk to the bottom of the Irish sea, the bonus was we missed the tide to get back into Rhos Harbour and got to fish for another seven hours and we both caught Topes on live mackerel. The RNLI were very skilled and executed a textbook rescue,  we both put a little extra in our donations to the RNLI for our great thanks to them. The boat is now fixed again and we are hoping to get out fishing next week. The weather looks to be improving by mid week. Some pictures below of some fish we have caught.

Nice to see you back keith, sorry about your boat repairs.
Some nice fish there.
Great orgnisation the RNLI.
I have a sticker on my car window that has been in my last three car windows,I bought it at Beaumaris lifeboat station about 9 years ago.(RNLI)
It's been a quiet year with all the wind and rain we've been having.
Sunnyrhyl forum has almost ground to a halt.
Fingers crossed for a nice September?

Yes, a good selection of fish there. Any idea of the weight of that first huss?

I have been on a mad cycling challenge for five weeks which finished today, so should be able to get some fishing in now.

No idea of the weight we tend to just get a picture and get the fish back in the water as soon as we can. they are a strong fish you have to watch the end that bites.

What does a sea trial involve? Is it just a personal trial or an official one?
Did you get the engine overheating sorted?
Is your engine deisel or petrol?

The sea trial is just making sure everything works when under way after we have been doing some repairs, the overheating problem appears to be resolved, however the new pivot pin for the steering started working its way out again I had to lean over the back keeping pressure on it with a broom stick handle to stop it from popping out on our way back into the harbour. The boat powered by Volvo Penta 6 cyclinder deisel engine 200hp. We did drop anchor for a while plenty of doggies a few bull husses, small tope and a star fish that counts.

Maybe if you centre pop the pin near the edges on both ends it will expand it,and stop it slipping. That way it will knockout at a later date if need be.
get Yer snorkel and fins out. lol!
