Summer of '76 Empty
PostSubject: Summer of '76   Summer of '76 EmptyTue Jan 11, 2022 2:49 pm

In the summer of '76,I was coining it in as a Bricklayer.
I didn't want to have a holiday.
Her indoors got on my case, and I ended up consenting to a week in Rhyl.
We went on the camp next to the Golden sands camp?
We had a chalet(haha)
When the wife stepped into the Chalet, she burst into tears, the bedrooms were seperated by a curtain, and two people couldn't pass each other in the kitchen.
I said'it's a good job we didn't bring the cat' She said 'what's the cat got to do with it.well,I said, there would be no room to swing it round in. lol!
We got a caravan on a site lower down.
The weather broke and it pelted down with rain, and the caravan leaked.
I had an Austin Cambridge,so we went for a trip over the Gt Orme, the brakes went going down the other side of the Orme.I put the car in 2nd gear and trundled down to the bottom. It was a broken brake pipe.I got a new brake pipe, and spent the next day under the car (in the rain)fitting it.
happy days,or what? lol!

OUr last holiday was a week in a caravan at Exmouth back in November.

As it was end of season prices I splashed out on the delux caravan "with heating".

The missus still moaned - because we had to drive off the site to get internet.

Haha,we just can't win.
My last holiday was at Kennack sands on The Lizard in Cornwall.
Two weeks,on my own in a nice tent,Bliss!
I took and inflatable boat with a small outboard,3 tables and all the fishing gear.
I travelled around in about a 15 mile radius to all the fishing spots.
Met two guys about my age on the camp(with wives)
We hired a boat for the day up near falmouth, they borrowed my spare fishing gear for the day.
The camp had hanging fire pits,so we barbecued the days catch on it.
Nice little pub on the site with entertainment, quite a good fortnight.
There were static caravans on the site, which were reasonaby priced.
Got a house full of camping gear, but I'm getting past it,so I might try a static next time.
Going to Cornwall in an electric car could be an epic,it might even have to include an overnight stay on the way.
So.I'll be sticking to my Gof diesel estate.
