Use ‘em or lose ‘em holidays
Tuesday 24th MarchRhyl, in Front of “The Pipe” Low up for a couple of hours Tuesday Afternoon.
Monday’s high winds meant there was no shortage of smashed shells on the beach, though quite a bit of sand was missing, revealing newly exposed stumps and rocks.
Still blowing quite hard from the SW and the tip was in constant motion.
A decided nod followed by a good rattle had the adrenalin kicking in but
all that came back was a not-telling lug and a whisper of weed around the sinker.
Colder than I expected, the wind was picking up again and rain arrived.
Decoyed by last week’s sun, doing without the floatie trousers was a bit rash and as a soaking looked likely I headed home for a toe-warm.
Wednesday.Too windy.
Miserable
Thursday 26th amWind well up, forecast isn’t good, wound up and needing a wind down I ignored the rain
and headed down the A55 carwash for
Caernarfon -where the rain was just passing.
Set up in the lee of the Victoria Dock development, just about on the top of the morning High .
A 3 rod assault!
Bait: lug, mack, saury, squid (annoyed with myself I hadn’t sorted out some rag)
and a 1 inch dexter wedge sent fluttering down the rip
Tried everything from big baits down to slivers on hooks down as small as a size 12 on 4 lb line , even the crabs weren’t home.
Took a lunchtime look at,
Dinas DinlleScenic, but a full on wind in the face and the ebb didn’t look worth trying , doubt I could have cast far enough into the wind to be in with a chance
Thursday afternoon
Holyhead BreakwaterVia Winnie’s worms for some rag,
First bend looked to offer the best compromise between shelter and a fish
Fished from the driving seat an hour before Low up into darkness.
One bite, no fish
Friday 27th
