PostSubject: a short one   a short one EmptyMon Apr 04, 2011 1:01 pm

With the price of fuel. my intentions were to start fishing local a lot more and just the odd trip out when i no that the fish i want are there.

So this week ive been watching the weather and tide and decide yesterday the conditions were ideal for huss.

Didnt want to be out for stupid hours so i figured id go just after low and fish the run mid tide upto high then back home. Got up yesterday and it was raining but with new titan waterproofs headed of to the west side of the island.

Set of at 17.30 took my time to save fuel and was at my chosen spot and fishing by 19.00.

Set up 2 rods both with pulley rigs and 3/0 hooks loaded with sandeel and squid on 1 and sandeel and razor (stinking razor) on the other.

within minutes s/eel razor pulls over nice huss on but hook snaps and i lose it lifting it.

New hook same bait within minutes it pulls over again but this time i manage to land it in the swell.

excuse the pic's.

well over 10lb. couldnt weigh it proper as i went as light as i could so left the scales at home.

BY now id been fishing just over an hour and was well made up. then the dogs start and after 6 i thought this is it time to go. but i carried on fishing both rods with just whole joey mackrel on for conger with in half an hour i had to good takes one snagged up and the other broke of on the surface.

undetered i set a time for home at 22.30 and had 2 more casts. on the last cast i got a tad smaller one.

Mission accomplished i set of for home at 22.40 and home for midnight. and proved to myself if you no what your doing it can be rewarding

so i'll only go to marks when i think there going to produce rather than go every week and have shitters and not report.

happy as larry JOE.
