| Venue - Rhyl Duration - 10 hrs Bait: Fresh Lug, Frozen Lug, Frozen Squid Boat - Jabula Date - 16th October 2010
Life's a learning curve and this mornings lesson was that on a small tide, don't sleep in! As the tide was ebbing, we got out. Just! If the Echo Sounder was working, I'd have been scared
We made it and headed out towards the West Hoyle Buoy. We anchored up about a mile west of it. Sinbads frozen lug was working well with some half decent Dabs showing.
Fresh Lug tipped with Squid was my mainstay today. It was non-stop Whiting and Doggies with the occasional Dab thrown in. A few Mackerel on the feathers will make a great breakfast tomorrow. A few Tub Gurnards made for a bit of variety.
A lone Grey made an appearance.
Sinbad had a good scrap from a ............. Rock!
Approaching slack water, the Huss showed.
Another species for Sinbad with this Dab/Codling combo!
A bit of drama followed, with Sinbads spinning rod being pulled overboard. Luckily, it's cork handle floated and he was able to 'fish' it out. He retrieved a string full of Whiting with a Bull Huss hanging off the bottom one. So, next up, Whiting for bait and a Huss followed!
Another good knock.......
And another........... Rock!
A nice little creature was attached. Answers on a postcard please???
I persevered with my Lug/Squid coctails and was rewarded with this decent Bull Huss.
The weather held and the mooring was picked up without incident.
Happy Days!!! |

| Some nice Huss and a Grey I knew i should have put my foot down and come with you! Sinbads beastie is a sea urchin by the looks of it. They cover themselves in bits of shell for camoflague and are hard and spiky compared to anenomes which are soft and squidgy. Happy Days! |

I did take a huss for the table earlier in the year. It tasted ok, but not my favourite. |

- Great to get out on a long session , even though it did prove to be a little to long for the skipper
It was a long day! Best kip I've had in years! Only beaten by the daily sleep on the Crosville Coastliner back in the late 80's It's the Rocking |
